Genre/Influences: Minimal-Electro, IDM, Industrial, Experimental.

Format: Digital, CD.

Background/Info: P.S. Stamps Back is a Greek solo-project driven by Iason –who’s also running the label 1000+1 TiLt. He already released an impressive number of productions –mainly on his own label, and now joined hands together with Ant-Zen to release this new opus. The work is inspired by literature, the music becoming a kind of translation of words.

Content: “Au Bout De La Nuit” is mainly characterized by rather repetitive- and minimal Electro sequences. It sounds pure vintage-like. The tracks are carried by solid bass lines while the icy sequences sometimes create a disturbing- although exciting sensation. Some passages have something astral-like while others evoke to me a frozen format of Kraftwerk. But I’m sure this is the kind of music that will appeal for the lovers of Substanz T -a band I’m really missing!

+ + + : This album took me by surprise. I wasn’t familiar at all with P.S. Stamps Back, but the work really blows me away. The overwhelming sound treatments clearly composed with analogue gear have an impressively powerful effect. It remains minimal and even Experimental, but still danceable. The icy spheres reflect something disturbing, but still exciting. The work reveals some orgasmic passages created by terrific bass lines and crescendo repeating sequences. It’s freaky and intelligent. The main strength simply lies in the power of the sound treatments and its global production; this is top notch!

– – – : There’s not one single track without interest, this album being close to perfection!

Conclusion: P.S. Stamps Back illustrates in a real genius way how to compose original- and intelligent Electro music.

Best songs: “Mother Night”, “Darkness At Noon”, “The Inheritors”, “The Demolished Man”, “The Floating Opera”, “A Boy And His Dog”.

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
