Marva Von Theo – Afterglow (Album – Wave Records)
Genre/Influences: Electro-Pop, Wave-Pop.
Format: Digital, CD, Vinyl.
Background/Info: Marva Voulgari and Theo Foinidis are back on track unleashing their second album. After the promising debut work “Dream Within A Dream” it took them three years to achieve the new album, which has been released on Wave Records.
Content: The sound of the Greek duo remains pretty intimate, mixing elements of Electro/Wave-Pop and a few more influences together. There is still a kind of Cinematographic element, which I previously described as ‘Ambient-Pop’, but the work also features some D’n’B passages. The work remains driven by Marva’s sensual timbre of voice, which sometimes is reminding me of Lana Del Rey.
+ + + : “Afterglow” is an elaborated and accomplished production from a band with a very own sound and style. It will for sure appeal to Electro-Pop lovers, but the sound is much more than this. The vocals remain one of the duo’s main strengths, which is mixing sensuality and sensibility.
– – – : I didn’t get a similar sensation of magic as at the debut work. I’m missing a few highlights, the album featuring easy listening songs, but maybe not true potential hits.
Conclusion: Relaxing and dreamy, sensual music with a dark touch on top.
Best songs: “Room Of Doubt”, “Forever”.

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast.
