Eva|3 – A World Within (Album – Ant-Zen)
Genre/Influences: Minimal-Electro, Experimental, Cinematographic.
Format: Digital, Vinyl.
Background/Info: Eva|3 is a British solo-project driven by Paul Lavigne. After a long hiatus, Eva|3 struck back releasing several EP’s and this new full length album composed with the famous analogue Buchla synthesizer.
Content: “A World Within” is mixing Ambient- and Minimal Electro. The tracks are instrumentals, which could have been composed as a movie- or documentary soundtrack. The tracks are progressively built up, which now and then leads toward a true apotheosis.
+ + + : This album is progressively built up; tracklist and songs properly speaking are moving towards an apotheosis. This effect comes mainly through on the second part of the title track. I like the icy sound sequences and global atmosphere, which sometimes seem to announce a nearby disaster. The work also has an intimate sensation. The main strength of the project however remains the magic of the analogue sound treatments, which makes the production pretty unique.
– – – : I experienced some of the debut tracks as a little hesitant while the very last track is a bit too long, becoming monotonous.
Conclusion: Pure minimalism featuring a mix of alluring compositions and a few less inspired passages.
Best songs: “A World Within – Part 2” “A World within – Part 1”, “Lost”.

Since you’re here …
… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.
Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.
If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
