Genre/Influences: Industrial-metal.

Background/Info: Set up early 2017 by the Swiss duo Harald Wolken (guitar, synths & vocals) and Gaelle Blumer (drums), Geisterwald has been already featured on a few metal compilations. They this year unleashed their debut EP featuring 5 songs.

Content: “Geisterwald” is a rather classical and powerful metal formation dealing with furious guitar playing, fast drums and electronic arrangements. The vocals are sung in German and clearly express a dark and enraged content. The band might remind the living legends of Rammstein although the sound is more doom-like.

+ + + : This is a rather successful debut featuring a cool industrial-metal style. Especially “Alte Körper” (which has been featured on different compilations) caught my attention. Guitar, drums and electronic arrangements adding an epic touch to the work are quite complementary here. There also is an interesting vocal production, which sounds like featuring 2 different voices. If you like metal-driven and powerful music Geisterwald is something you really have to experience.

– – – : This band doesn’t innovate and I should say there are maybe too many bands dealing with a similar genre. I think they could use a bit more electronic/epic arrangements.

Conclusion: Geisterwald has the potential to conquer the German-speaking scenes. They don’t innovate, but bring a credible debut-EP.

Best songs: “Alte Körper”, “Schlag Stärker”.
