(Photo via Ikon) Out via the German Gräfenberg-based label Dark Vinyl on October 20th are two 2CD reissues of material from the Melbourne, Australia-based darkwave / post-punk act Ikon.

The first is a reissue of the 2009 album “Love, Hate and Sorrow” which comes in a 6-panel eco-digifile in a limited edition of 400 copies. Titled “Love, Hate and Sorrow (2022 Edition)” it contains the band’s’s 6th studio album in a remastered version plus a bonus-CD with unreleased material and rare b-sides.

The second is “Destroying The Vampire” which is equally released as a 6-panel eco-digifile in a limited edition of 400 copies. “Destroying The Vampire” contains Ikon’s the studio album “Destroying The World To Save It” (2005) and the EP “Psychic Vampire” (2004) in a remastered version plus unreleased bonus material.

Ikon was formed by Chris McCarter (vocals, guitar, programming) and Dino Molinaro (bass) in 1988. In 1991, the original band name Death in the Dark was replaced by Ikon. The band’s original singer Michael Carrodus joined them in creating the first two albums “In the Shadow of the Angel” (1994) and “Flowers for the Gathering” (1996). They signed to Apollyon and Metropolis Records.

Since you’re here …

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
